It is the latest evolution of the legendary ATC 50 loudspeaker design, featuring ATCs discrete active tri-amp technology, renowned drive units and a new elliptical curved cabinet for optimal radiation from the mid and high-frequency drive units. Essence is your direct music conduit with sonic neutrality, textural purity and dynamic ease, defined as much by what we have left out as by what we have put in.

Ultra-wide frequency bandwidth: 0.5 Hz – 350 kHz, +0 dB, -3 dB

Conservatively rated at 50W (8Ω), 100W (4Ω), 200W (2Ω) in stereo, Class A and at 55W (8Ω), 110W (4Ω), 220W (2Ω), (Monoblock), Class A.

These exceptional figures guarantee stability with any loudspeaker load. The dual mono design employs a custom-built shielded, high current toroidal transformer with dual windings for left and right channel. The output stage and driver stage employ separate power supplies for effective isolation of the output stage from the input stage. A separate transformer for control and display circuitry isolates them from the signal path.

Overview

The SCM20PSL is ATC’s flagship 2-way stand-mount loudspeaker and is the ideal choice in modestly sized rooms, but where performance cannot be compromised.

Its sealed cabinet design ensures excellent timing, useful low frequency output below the cut-off and that the speakers can be placed relatively close to walls without excessive low frequency output or ‘boom’.

The active SCM20ASL features an on-board 250W Amp Pack. Simply pair with a suitable pre-amplifier, DAC/pre or streaming-pre-amp for stunning results.

The active SCM20ASL replaces the passive crossover and the driving amplifier of a 'conventional' system with a precisely matched 'Amp Pack', mounted to the rear of the loudspeaker cabinet. The electronic system consists of a balanced input feeding a 2nd order active electronic crossover which, in turn, feeds a pair of class A/B power amplifiers, carefully tailored to the exact requirements of the mid/bass and high-frequency drive units.
